If Future Is In The Fiber,

is there a future?

Plain Talk 2011

On July 2, 2011 I emailed, called and sent letters to alpaca breeder who had listed (41 total) on OhioAlpacas4u.com. I emailed over 40 fiber mills that were on AlpacasR4U.com courtesy mill list. I tried to call several other businesses that were once part of the US Alpaca industry. I received a reply from one Alpaca breeder and two fiber mills 9one of which said they did not want any new customers). I emailed several industry leaders to see what they are doing to help develop the fiber sales. Only two responded and they did not give one idea, hint or any information about what they are doing. I did not even waste my time contacting the fiber testing labs I knew they would not reply.

I have decided that I must have not been charging enough to list and advertise on these websites.

  • I should have been charging $100 a year for breeder listings.

  • I should have been letting Alpaca owners to pay me $250 so they can give me their fiber

  • I should have been charging businesses $200 or more a year to advertise on these sites.

  • Need I say more

I have decided that when alpaca owners/breeders do not want to remain on this website and other businesses who are charging alpaca owners for services and products offer no information it is no longer worth my time to look for answers to the problems with the alpaca fiber industry. For the benefit of the businesses below I will keep OhioAlpacas4u.com and AlpacasR4U.com active and allow hay producers to list hay tested for alpacas. There will be a yearly charge for any business that want to be seen.
